Since many sex workers have never earned money legally in their lives, they often do not know what social benefits are available in Kenya, e.g. in the area of health and pension insurance. Furthermore, Nairobi is a huge NGO hub in East Africa. Hundreds of organisations offer their services in the city – but this often goes unnoticed by the poorest of the poor, who sometimes never leave their slums.
To solve this problem of “missing information”, the Sisters for Hope offer a lecture once a month in the meeting centre to inform the community about possible social services. We also provide support in finding the right NGO to solve the problems in our working environment.
However, we do not only give theoretical lectures, but also provide practical help in filling out and submitting applications and forms.
